South Cargo Development Area
Toledo Express Airport has available more than 75 acres capable of supporting nearly one million s.f. of development. The available land has direct airside access to Toledo Express (TOL) and is also adjacent to the North American hub of BAX Global, an international air cargo company that has been located at the northwest Ohio airport for more than 15 years. BAX Global is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, which is one of the largest mobility and logistics companies in the world. Weekly round trip flights from Dubai to Toledo have been linking markets in Asia, Europe and the U.S. since 2007. The strategic benefits of TOL and the Schenker network have been confirmed by other operators such as Emirates Sky Cargo. They, along with LGSTX Services, a neutral handler, have a growing presence at the airport with increased global connections. Toledo’s logistical value is also validated by the presence of several major regional distribution centers that leverage the location’s excellent roadway proximity to the diverse economic base within this region.
Toledo Express Airport
The value of the Toledo Express Airport as a domestic and global air cargo port is well established. Infrastructure and cost benefits include:
- Direct airfield access to 10,600’ runway
- Instrument Landing System (capable of upgrade to Category III if required by aircraft operations)
- 78-Acre air cargo apron adjacent to development site designed to accommodate 747 and other large cargo freighters
- 24/7 Air Traffic Control Operations
- On-site U.S. Customs and FTZ
- Active perishables facility
- Competitive pricing
- No congestion
- Compatible land use
Proximity to Market
Global Reach
The Toledo Express Airport is an emerging participant in the global distribution network. Regularly scheduled air cargo activity at Toledo Express currently includes flights to and from Canada, Mexico, Australia, Germany and the Middle East. As a well-established domestic hub with increased international connectivity, the Toledo Express Airport is well positioned to function as an inland port and an alternative to congested air cargo gateways.
Multi-Modal Logistics
The Toledo and the Northwest Ohio region is ranked as a 5-Star Logistics Metro by Expansion Management Magazine and offers a full range of transportation resources.
- An international air cargo hubbing operation
- Excellent highway access to industry and consumers at the juncture of two transcontinental highways
- National crossroads of four railroads (includes upcoming CSX National Gateway, North Baltimore, OH project)
- Largest land-mass seaport on Great Lakes
Exceptional Access to Regional Customers
There’s a reason why UPS, FedEx and major retailers, such as Walgreens, Menards and Best Buy, have established major ground distribution centers in the Toledo/Northwest Ohio area – it is a highly desirable and strategic location. Within a 300-mile radius of Toledo, more industrial space can be reached than from any other location in North America, according to the Regional Growth Partnership of Northwest Ohio. Within a one-day truck trip, a major population segment in both the U.S. and Canada can be accessed. Toledo provides access to more population when compared to other Ohio distribution centers, with daily round-trip ground access to major metro areas such as Detroit, Chicago, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. The area is at the juncture of the nation’s two transcontinental interstate highways – Interstate 80/90 which runs east and west from California to New York and Interstate 75, the longest north/ south interstate in the U.S.. The proposed development site is near both of these corridors.
The Property
The site is contained within the property limits of the Toledo Express Airport and is situated within the Airport’s 735-acre South Development Area. The initial offering contains 75 acres capable of supporting nearly one million s.f. of development. The site is directly adjacent to a 78-acre (non-exclusive) air cargo ramp with significant capacity. Investments have been made to improve the area’s infrastructure including roadway access within the site. The addition of a new cargo road on the site that will be aligned parallel with the cargo ramp is currently under construction and scheduled for completion by the end of 2008. The enhancement of utilities to the site boundary is being undertaken by the Port Authority.
The site is accessible to I-80/90 from the north or I-475 to the east via U.S. Route 20A.
